A journey by train: the moving window like the screen of a landscape that is exterior as well as interior. The words of a poet that blend until they dissolve, blurring the borders of the intimate and the universal, merging with and separating from a snowed landscape that is always the same and always different. The window as link and frontier, as union and separation. Freely adapting La prose du Transsibérien et de la Petite Jehanne de France, published in 1913 by writer Blaise Cendrars and artist Sonia Delaunay-Terk and one of the most beautiful books ever created, David Epiney deploys an animated work between the abstract and the organic, between the figurative and dreamlike, that dynamites the concept of adaptation (and perhaps also that of animation), and turns the scenery of the moving landscape into a canvas over which to paint life as it goes by.
